Obsession

I've been a little quiet of late, and that has to do with my newfound obsession with battleground gaming in World of Warcraft.

In World of Warcraft, you can go to these little team battlegrounds and compete against members of the opposite faction. I just started on Tuesday and I've tried three battlegrounds so far.

The Warsong battleground is a standard Capture the Flag scenario. If you can capture your opponents flag and bring it back to your base, you win. It is a best two out of three game. Quick and easy. [Edit: It is a first to 3 wins, not 2 out of 3, sorry]

The Alterac Valley Battle ground is a large field and the objective is to kill the enemies "boss" Non-Player Character. This will require multiple people because the boss has tons of health and hits hard. You can also capture some towers and bases in the field which gives your team reinforcements or costs the other team reinforcements. This is the battleground that has taken me the most time to finish.

Finally, I've tried Arathi Basin battleground.

This is kind of neat. The idea is to capture these areas in the field that provide your side with resources. The reason this is neat is because it is similiar to the old real-time strategy game Warcraft. So anyway, you just take the resource places then defend them against the opponent.

I haven't played Arathi Basin that much, but I think it is considerably more difficult than the other fields because I'm not that great about defense.

Battlegrounds are major fun.

There's one more, Eye of the Storm. In that one there are two continents connected by three bridges. Each continent has two towers to guard and hold. The middle bridge has a flag that you can take to a tower on your side to boost points. Give that one a whirl, you might like it a lot.

Oh, I'll try all of them. I'm working on getting 30 Arathi tokens first for a new mount (the black wolf one).

That one does sound fun though, is travel restricted to the bridges?

Out of the three I've tried, I think my favorite is Warsong. I love how quick it is. I know I'll be hitting whichever one is featured this weekend as well.

Well you're in luck, WSG is featured this coming weekend.

In EOS you can run around on your continent but must use the bridges to cross to the other one.

I don't really like WSG because it's a lot of work for a comparatively low return in honor. AV is probably my favorite, followed by EOS. Of course one bad thing about AV for us hunters: buying ammo.

I made most of the 7k honor points my first night with Warsong. While the Warsong battles themselves didn't earn as much as Alterac Valley, I could play 2 or 3 battles in Warsong in the same amount of time as AV.

Maybe the teams I was on in AV didn't do things correctly, though.

Yeah, hunters really use up ammo in the battlegrounds.

I am now stuck in a dilema, though. I was planning on focusing on my warrior (got him up to 30 now) for my next level 70; but having stealth has a great appeal to me for the battlegrounds. So now I'm contempating getting my druid up, especially after having my butt handed to me by a couple druids this morning before work (might have been caused by caffeine deficiency).

In close combat, their cat form shreds me apart, if I manage to get some distance from them, their bear form charges me and stuns me. They also have a Heal over Time buff that effectively nullifies my snake or immolation trap.

That might change though after I get some better armor.
